All proceeds for Professor Gunji’s book, The Art of Wagashi: Recipes for Japanese Sweets that Delight the Palate and the Eyes, go back to supporting the University of Illinois’s very own Japan House.
On Friday, December 20th, Professor Gunji will be joining us for a book signing and wagashi tasting! Wagashi, commonly translated as “japanese sweets or confections,” are traditional sweets served prior to the matcha tea during a Japanese Tea Ceremony. These beautiful sweets provide just a touch of sweetness to your palate prior to drinking the somewhat bitter tea.
Professor Gunji took no money for the development of this book and ALL proceeds go back to supporting the Japan House. Purchase online to support or pop into the shop! Either way, join us in supporting such a local treasure!
